Sacred Sound - MANTRA

Ancient scriptures affirms that the entire cosmic creation began with sound. Like the Bible, which states, "In the beginning was the Word." (John 1:1) Mantras, or sacred sounds, are used to pierce through sensual, mental and intellectual levels of existence for the purpose of purification and spiritual enlightenment. In the yoga tradition, sound is used as a powerful tool for inner transformation. For many centuries the term Mantra has been used for any sound vibration that has spiritual, healing or mystical properties. The word mantra itself means the sound vibration for liberating the mind. It is derived from the words Manas, which means the mind, and Trayate, which means to liberate. Maha-mantra means the great chant for liberating the mind.

Hare Krishna Maha-Mantra

The Hare Krishna maha-mantra, or "the great chant for deliverance", is considered by scripture the most powerful of mantras, for it includes the potency of all others. It is a universal chant, it can be chanted by anyone. It is for people of all religions, all nations, all colours, and both sexes. "The transcendental vibration established by the chanting of Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare / Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare is the sublime method for reviving our transcendental consciousness. Kirtan is a guided experience of healing and uplifting sound. Integrating mantras, rhythm and beautiful live instruments, the group is led toward a deep state of meditation. It is a simple and authentic way to relieve stress, refresh the mind and connect with the heart. Great for new meditators as well as seasoned practitioners. The practice goes back more than 5000 years and can be practiced by anyone. You do not need to be a good singer, a musician or a practitioner of yoga to experience the power of kirtan. An open mind and your voice are all that is required! Kirtan offers a rich, immersive experience that has the power to change the world, one heart at a time.
