What is the Hare Krishna Chant?
Source:  Writer:

Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare,

Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare

This chant is a spiritual sound vibration that cleanses the mind and heart, and awakens love of God.

  • Chanting helps us understand our true nature as eternal spiritual beings, beyond the physical body.
  •  Krishna is the Sanskrit name of God meaning “all attractive”.
  •  Rama is another name for God meaning “reservoir of all pleasure”.
  •  Hare refers to the divine energy of the Lord.
  •  By chanting the Hare Krishna mantra, we are requesting the all-attractive, all-pleasing Lord to engage us in His service.
  • The chanting of Hare Krishna is recommended in ancient India’s Vedic literature – Bhagavad-gita and Srimad-Bhagavatam – as the easiest method to attain spiritual realization in today’s world.
  • There are two ways to chant: group chanting (kirtana) and individual chanting on beads (japa).
